  • Always Free

  • Garuda Linux will always be completely free. We create it, so we can have a Linux based operating system that is easy to use.

  • Easy installation

  • We make the install process simple, by using the Calamares installer which is both easy to use, and makes the installation process fast, so it takes less time for you to get going.

  • Ease of use

  • Garuda Linux offers you GUI tools out of the box to make your jumpstart easier.

  • Rolling Release

  • Garuda Linux is a rolling release distro based on Arch Linux, so you always get the latest software updates.

We use only one extra repo on top of Arch Linux repos, placing us very close to Arch Linux, without having to install the system with CLI.

  • Focus on Performance

  • Our goal is to provide a distro that focuses only on performance while making it beautiful. So we have made some Performance tweaks.

  • Automatic Snapshots

  • While being a rolling release, our goal is to ensure that your system data will always be safe. Thus we use the BTRFS filesystem, and employ its feature of automatic snapshots that backup the system with each update.

By default we take automatic snapshots before every upgrade. We keep 5 snapshots max. This is achieved by using BTRFS snapshot feature and timeshift with grub-btrfs.

With Garuda Linux, you don't have to fear a rolling release and bad upgrades causing problems for your system. Even if your system experiences some problems due to updates, you are safe.

You can easily boot into the Timeshift BTRFS snapshot of your system by first selecting it from the GRUB menu, and then opening Timeshift to restore the snapshot in seconds to have your working system back.

The advantage to using btrfs snapshot is that it take very small amount of space for snapshots.the process of taking snapshot and restoration is instant.
